Alleppey Houseboats

Traditionally, the houseboat was called Kettuvallam, which means a boat made by tying together pieces of wood.Unbelievable as it may sound, not a single nail is used in the making of a Kettuvallam. Jack wood planks are joined together with coir rope and then coated with black resin made from boiled cashew nut shells. The materials that go into the making are all local and Eco friendly bamboo poles, coconut fiber ropes, bamboo mats, coir carpets etc...

These traditional country boats were used as the mode of transport in the early times from the isolated interior villages to the towns. But these boat services have been laid off with the developments taken place in the transport services in the recent past. Today these giant 80-foot long crafts have been adapted into luxuriously furnished houseboats. A Kettuvallam usually has one or two bath attached rooms, an open lounge, deck, kitchenette and a crew comprising two oarsmen and a cook.

		Houseboat Trip
		Houseboat trip can be dividing by three.   Over night stay in the houseboat   Day Cruise   Night stay  Over Night stay in houseboat:- check in Time 12:00PM with welcome drink Tender coconut (after drinking just give the coconut to crew members they will cut it & give to you) houseboat cruising starts. 01:00Pm Lunch time (01 Hour Lunch Break) after again starts, 03 :30 Tea & Snacks, 05:30 Pm houseboat halting on the River side (after 05:30 we are giving country boat ride, village walk, paddy field visit, fishing, Toddy Shop visiting) morning 07 :30 Am houseboat again starts cruise through the backwaters check out Alleppey at 09:00 Am  Day Cruise:- Day cruise is better for the family, groups & those who don’t like to stay in the houseboat. Compared to over night stay package it cost less. 10:30 Am check in the houseboat with welcome drink Tender Coconut. 12:00 PM get a Snacks (Kappa & Fish Curry) 1:30 Pm half hour Lunch Break then houseboat again starts 04:00 Pm Tea & Snacks check out Alleppey at 05:30 Pm  Night Stay in the houseboat:- check in Time is 06:00 Pm with Tea & Snacks 30 minutes cruising through the backwater. Houseboat is halting at 06:30 Pm, 09:00 Pm dinner time. Morning 07:30 Am starts cruise through the backwaters & check out Alleppey at 10:00 AM.

 Each houseboat is of excellent construction and luxurious furnishing with exquisite flooring, hull and 
     valavara (canopy). They are in top cruise worthy condition.
 Each houseboat is provided with a sun deck, spacious living / dining area. 
 Each houseboat with attached toilets, separate toilets for crew. 
 Spacious passage and a neat, classy kitchen
 Kitchen is properly protected from hazards by fireproofing and fire extinguishers. 
 Clean environment with a hygienic storage hold, free from insects and safe fuel 
 Storage facilities. 
 Clean good quality linen, blankets, towels etc. 
 Log books and tourist records are updated regularly and the boat has a valid license. 
 The services of professional cooks are available on the boat. Experienced, license holding staff

If you may feel our price is bit high when compared to others. We can’t offer very low price for our houseboats, we can give you best houseboat with reasonable price. We are giving the opportunities to our clients, they can choose there houseboat that they are going to stay. We can give same houseboats here. 

 We will not go into a downward auction. We will match a price once but we will not continuously match a price downwards 
 We will need to investigate any houseboat price as we have had too much experience of deluxe house boats at standard price 
    which later turn out to be standard houseboats at more than standard prices 
 We cannot fight with prices... if you can get it cheaper elsewhere or online - go for it with our blessing!!!
